The 45 Residence

A Contemporary Interpretation of Turkish Heritage in the Heart of Urban Karachi

The architectural language of Lale-i-Rumi is rooted in a contemporary interpretation of Ottoman design principles.

Rather than directly replicating historical elements, the space redefines traditional Turkish motifs through precision-crafted laser-cut metal screens, simplified arches, and clean masonry lines.

This approach preserves cultural authenticity while ensuring the environment feels current, refined, and aligned with modern hospitality standards. The result is a balanced dialogue where history informs the design, but modern craftsmanship defines its execution.

Cultural storytelling is subtly embedded into the architecture, particularly through references to the tulip (Lale), a powerful symbol in Turkish heritage.

The spatial flow, lighting fixtures, and ornamental details echo its elegant form, creating a poetic continuity throughout the interior.

A carefully curated material palette—warm terracotta hues, textured plaster, handcrafted tile work, and high-end industrial finishes—establishes a tactile richness. This harmony between traditional materials and contemporary surfaces ensures both visual depth and long-term durability within a high-traffic hospitality environment.

The layout was intentionally designed to create a layered sensory journey.

Arched thresholds, intimate seating niches, and dynamic ceiling heights guide guests through moments of openness and enclosure, fostering both social vibrancy and contemplative calm. Lighting plays a pivotal role, with ambient illumination enhancing textures and casting soft shadows that elevate the mystical atmosphere.

Every architectural decision supports DBL’s philosophy of sensory hospitality—where space, light, texture, and form collectively shape an immersive cultural dining experience within the energetic urban fabric of Karachi. short titles

Hospitality Vision

As a cornerstone of DBL’s Hospitality division, Lale-i-Rumi was designed to be more than a dining space; it is a curated cultural immersion. The project’s core objective was to harmonize the mystical essence of Rumi’s Anatolia with the cosmopolitan energy of Karachi. DBL’s approach focuses on “sensory hospitality”—where the architecture serves as the first course. By integrating traditional Turkish aesthetics into a contemporary framework, we created a sanctuary that offers patrons an escape from the urban hustle into a space of Sufi-inspired serenity.

Unified Build

Our construction team focused on high-fidelity finishing, ensuring that every handcrafted element from the ornate arched doorways to the bespoke textured walls was installed with surgical precision.

By managing both the Architecture and Construction in-house, DBL ensured that the structural integrity of the “Urban” Karachi environment never compromised the delicate, ethereal atmosphere required for an authentic Turkish hospitality experience.
